The XIII Summer Paralympics will take place in Beijing between 6th and 17th of September 2008. Almost 4000 participants from approximately 150 countries will take part. The Olympic schedule involves 20 sports and medals will be handed out in 472 competitions, including for the first time, rowing.
The Beijing Organizing Committee for the XXIX Olympiad is working under the new slogan “Games of Equal Splendor” for both Olympic Games. BOCOG has set equal conditions of stay and service for both the Olympics and the Paralympics. Both, the Olympics and the Paralympics have a common slogan: “One World, One Dream,” and its’ main goal is to bring people from all around the world together.
All Polish Olympic staff in tandem cycling derives from Mio Cross Team
The latest Mio Cross Team members’ successes in the European Cup (three firsts in general classification) and in the Polish Track Championship (three firsts in sprint, 1 and 4 km distances) allow us to think that we have a great possibility of winning Olympic medals. “We have repeated the scheme of training from the last two years, which let the Mio Cross Team members to win the World Championship twice, European Championship and European Cup. Our cyclists are at the forefront of tandem cycling, which gives us enormous hope for winning Olympic medals.” Says Mirosław Jurek, trainer of the Mio Cross Team.
Personnel of Polish paralympic team in tandem cycling:
- Krzysztof Kosikowski and Artur Korc (pilot) - currently Champions of the World and Europe and winners of the Europena Cup;
- Andrzej Zając and Dariusz Flak (pilot) – currently, winners of the second place during the European Cup;
- Ewa Wiśniewska and Wioleta Ostrowska (pilot) – winners of the European Cup.
